7. Compare and contrast Book Review and Literature Review

Answer:

A book review focuses on one (or, occasionally, a couple of) book/s. It’s usually designed to indicate whether the book is good or not, but it’s also - at best - designed to evaluate the book critically. So at the simplest, a book review is an exercise in “I liked/disliked this book because…”, but ideally there’d also be a deeper engagement with the book and a discussion of whether it “works” in relation to its argument (particularly in non-fiction) and so on.

A literature review is a look at all (or a lot of) the literature in a given field in order to establish what “gaps” there are that is particular piece of research will fill. So it’s an exercise in saying “This expert says this, and that expert says that. My research will take this third approach, and go this way”, sort of thing.

17. Ipaliwanag sa tagalog ang dont judge a book by its cover

ANSWER:

28. similarities and difference between a book review and literature review

Answer:

A literature review is a critical summary of all the published works on a particular topic. Most research papers include a section on literature review as part of the introduction. Often, the Discussion section too includes a critical review of selected studies for the purpose of comparing their results with those of the study at hand.

A literature review is a "comprehensive study and interpretation of literature that addresses a specific topic" (Aveyard, 2010).

Literature reviews are generally conducted in one of two ways:

1) As a preliminary review before a larger study in order to critically evaluate the current literature and justify why further study and research is required.

In this case, the researcher must "systematically search, critique and combine the literature to demonstrate a gap in the existing research base" while demonstrating "their understanding of both the research and the methods previously used to investigate the area" (Aveyard, 2010).

2) As a project in itself that provides a comprehensive survey of the works published in a particular discipline or area of research over a specified period of time.

Sometimes referred to as a systematic literature review or meta-analysis, this type of literature review is a critical survey that attempts to "evaluate and interpret all available research evidence relevant to a particular question" (Glasziou, 2001).

A book review is a thorough description, critical analysis, and/or evaluation of the quality, meaning, and significance of a book, often written in relation to prior research on the topic. Reviews generally range from 500-2000 words, but may be longer or shorter depending on the length and complexity of the book being reviewed, the overall purpose of the review, and whether the review exams two or more books that focus on the same topic. Professors assign book reviews as practice in carefully analyzing complex scholarly texts and to assess your ability to effectively synthesize research so that you reach an informed perspective about the topic being covered.

Also referred to as a book report, a book review consists of "critical comments on a book, especially when it is first published" ("Book Review, 2006).

Similar to a short essay, a book review typically includes several of these elements:

Description of the book's main topic, purpose and/or point of view, answering questions such as:

What is the genre of the work (i.e. novel, non-fiction, memoir etc.)?

Who is the intended audience?

If a fictional work, what are the key themes, motifs, and/or plot devices?

If a non-fictional work, what are the main arguments and ideas?

Assessment of the book's main points, biases or flaws

Critical analysis of the book's strengths and weaknesses, literary value and/or overall quality and contribution to the subject area

If non-fiction, an explanation of how the book fits into the academic or popular discourse on a topic or subject area

Explanation:

29. a book description is similar to a book review

A book review's purpose is to help people decide whether or not the book would interest them enough to read it. Reviews are a sneak peek at a book, not a summary. Like wonderful smells wafting from a kitchen, book reviews lure readers to want to taste the book themselves.

30. 1.does book review provide you vital information about the book?2.why it is important to follow steps in book reviewing?3.what is the reason why you do book review?pls pa help nmn po sa reading and writing skills po to

Answer:

1.A book review is a guide for potential readers. In a concise manner, a review summarizes the author's qualifications and main points, often providing examples from the text. A review also provides an opinion on whether the author succeeds or not in convincing readers of his or her points.

2.Book reviews allow your audience to speak, giving them a voice. Most people who write book reviews are honestly trying to help other readers understand your work. Reviews promote the book and you as an author.

3.Book reviews offer a useful insight into whether or not a book is genuinely worth reading – so if you've read a book and you want to shout from the rooftops about or, alternatively, you want to advise people to avoid it like the plague, writing a review could be a very worthwhile activity.
